2021 MIAA D2S Final Recap: No. 7 Scituate 20, No. 13 Hanover 16

By Jake Levin SCITUATE—Just three years removed from its last sectional title, the circumstances couldn’t be more different for the Sailors this time around. Sunday’s 20-16 victory for No. 7 Scituate over No. 13 Hanover in the Division 2 South final was the last of its kind, given the MIAA is abandoning sectional tournaments in favor of a statewide format – for all sports – beginning this fall. But it also marked the arrival of a Sailors team on the big stage perhaps a year ahead of schedule, given there’s just one senior on this year’s roster. “We never used our age or inexperience as an excuse this year,” Scituate coach Mark Puzzangara said. “To be able t
