PEABODY – An even defensive tilt in the first quarter between Winthrop and Peabody morphed into Winthrop taking control.
Eventually, the Vikings built upon a one-goal lead after the second quarter and never let up, stalling Peabody’s late comeback attempt and holding on 10-8.
Winthrop improved to 8-0 while Peabody dropped to 4-6.
Head coach Brian Donnelly anticipated a tough match against the Tanners noting the NEC league is “really tight.” He’s happy to face big competition, knowing Winthrop needs to battle every game.
