BOSTON — The Xaverian Hawks traveled to BC High on Thursday and made a resounding statement, early in the season, as they defeated the reigning Division I state champion BC High Eagles, 16-7, to open up 2019.

Newly converted attackman and former midfielder Andrew Perry led the way for the Xaverian (1-0) with four goals and five assists, while fellow attackman Sam Jean registered five goals and a pair of assists. Goalie Teagan Alexander chipped in by making 12 saves between the pipes for the Hawks.

BC High (1-1) was led by Chi Chi Price and Carter Rice, who netted three goals each for the Eagles.

“It definitely means a lot getting a win like this,” Xaverian head coach Tim Gardner said following the season-opening victory. “We’ve had our tough moments on this field. Whenever you have two Catholic Conference teams like this facing off, you’re in for a battle. It’s a good night, one that we will definitely cherish and hope we can build upon for the rest of this season.”
