Solid performance pushes Dragons past Mercer Island
By Mike Abelson (@ABELS0N)
DUXBURY – There was nothing fancy about it, but the Duxbury Dragons did what they had to do to take down reigning Washington state Division 1 champion Mercer Island 9-5 on a windy day at Chandler Field.
The Dragons never trailed and reached full stride during a 5-0 run across the third and fourth quarters.
“I was real happy with the way the attack played,” Duxbury coach Chris Sweet said. “They played with a lot of poise. It just seemed like everyone did their job. The defense played good, fundamental defense, Brady [Burke] was solid in the goal, and our middies won a lot of ground balls. It wasn't fancy, but it was good, hard-nosed lacrosse.”
