CHELMSFORD - Early on, it looked like 16th-seeded Chelmsford was going to push the pace against No. 17 Wellesley in their first round MIAA playoff matchup on Friday.
The Lions scored four goals in the first quarter and had Wellesley on the ropes right out of the gate.
Then the Raiders’ defense locked in.
Wellesley allowed only five goals for the rest of the contest, and outscored the Lions 10-5 en route to a 12-9 playoff victory on the road.
Zach Nolan had three goals and one assist for Wellesley, while Matthew Manning added three goals of his own. Cooper Munro had two goals and three assists. Jack Rotella had some key saves in net as well.
