Division 2 Final 4: Longmeadow cruises past Marshfield; Mansfield dominates Walpole

By Mike Sidhly BostonLax Correspondent MARLBOROUGH - A slow start for second-seeded Longmeadow quickly turned to a rout in the MIAA Division Two semi-finals. Longmeadow only scored one goal in the first quarter against fifth-seeded Marshfield, only to finish on a 12-5 run that spurred the Lancers to an easy 13-7 playoff victory. With the win, Longmeadow (18-4) will now face Mansfield in the D2 championship on Friday at Worcester State. Head coach Frank Verde is in his first year leading the boy’s team, and had praise for his team’s offensive output. “I’m so proud of everybody here, we had a number of guys step-up,” said Verde.
