Deerfield 14, Belmont Hill 10 – Season opener for two Massachusetts powerhouses goes to the Big Green
BELMONT - A year ago, Belmont Hill made the long trip out to Deerfield early in the season and made it worth their while, coming home with an overtime win.
The Big Green wanted to return the favor this season when traveling East to Belmont for both squad's season opener on Wednesday afternoon.
And did so in convincing fashion.
Deerfield won 14-10 in a game that was a bit more lopsided than the final score indicates.
The visitors had a 5-1 lead after one, 8-2 at the half and 10-2 late in the third before taking a 10-5 lead to the fourth. Belmont Hill made a couple runs to make things a little more interesting, but behind seven saves for Braswell Vachon, a hat trick from Jack Borg
