The 2024 season was a historic one for the Nantucket Whalers.
The program's first state title capped a magical season for head coach Sam Aloisi. It was a whirlwind summer of celebrations on the island after winning the school's first championship of any kind since the 2011 Super Bowl.
"It was amazing," said Aloisi in a recent phone interview. "We got back to the island, we paraded around and had a big party that night. A couple dinners in the summer at local restaurants for the kids. We went up to the state house and did that whole thing and then finally had a little ring ceremony after Thanksgiving that sort of wrapped it all up.
