BYFIELD - The Tabor Academy and The Governor's Academy lacrosse teams have a rivalry which dates back 61 years. It’s known as the Dummer Challenge.
Bragging rights are always on the line every time this annual event arises. But the real prize is a silver-tainted trophy which has etchings of each winner since 1964. ISL lacrosse history is literally carved into that trophy—the Dummer Challenge Cup.
Saturday’s edition of the Dummer Challenge, which ended in favor of the hosts, Govs, by a final score of 14-13 in sudden-death overtime, was one for the ages.
