Almost a week later, on Wednesday afternoon, the game was concluded, after a lightning delay halted the original contest, as Melrose led 10-7 with 5:11 remaining on the clock. After the teams had already played their regularly scheduled second meeting on Saturday (a 16-2 Melrose win), the final five minutes and eleven seconds of the first game was finished with the Red Raiders closing it out, 10-8, thus completing their two-game sweep.
